The Lie of Mental Health
Yo what’s up bro,
We have been fed this modern lie that everyone has to be depressed or that everything in life should lead everyone to be sad about everything. Children’s books focus on depression to try to show kids the “real world”. It has become common practice to say that anxiety drugs or focus drugs are normal for everyone to use. Teachers that I’ve had have told me that everyone has depression to some degree.
We are told that therapy, that actually reinforces the same bad ideals you want to get rid of, is good for us. Let me ask you: why you would try and relive those moments? Psychiatrists try and pump you full off drugs to make you complacent and stupid. If I say this, people will say that I’m radical or that I’m dangerous to society.
Now, instead of wasting your time and ranting, let me give you some practical no bullshit advice. Start your day with 5 minutes of meditation instead of immediately looking at your phone. The reason is to slow your mind down and not just destroy it with dopamine from text notifications. You don’t want your mind to immediately be taken into the zombie trance of modern technology. Don’t just take my word for it. Try it for yourself. Then you can confirm or deny it. I also want you to finish your day with gratitude journaling. Write down three things you are grateful for. Even if you think it’s useless, it is going to train your mind to look for positive things in your life. You are rewiring your mind to stop focusing on the negatives.
Alright that’s all I got, see you later.
